Happy Family Day to those celebrating in Alberta and Ontario. Today might be a holiday here, but I’m going to be diving straight into the books as it’s my official “reading week”. Hello, schoolwork! For those SOL on a day off, here’s five things to amuse you as you down a cup of joe at your desk.

1. The dawn of computer love. Believe it or not, the era of internet dating we live in today has more history that one might think. This cute video from the New York Times talks with Philip Fialer and James Harvey who created the first computer matching program for a Stanford University class in 1959!

2. Binge TV watching? Yep, it’s a thing. And, networks are starting to change the way they develop the television programs we choose to binge on. This article tells you the story.

3. Somewhere In Nova Scotia. The latest and greatest Tumblr account. Obviously most meaningful to fellow NS’ers who really love when we see a movie or TV show reference our humble little home. Here are a few example posts.

4. Eoin Finn Yoga Podcasts. I’ve been using these podcasts lately at home to zen out and practice yoga in small doses on my own. Obviously you should learn yoga in a studio environment, but if you are looking for a way to practice at home, his podcasts are my top choice.

5. The Vinyl Cafe. Who doesn’t love Stuart MacLean? Yesterday’s live CBC Radio 1 episode was taped last month in Kingston, and I was lucky enough to be in the audience! If you get a chance, I recommend taking a listen; the show is a lovely ode to winter in Canada.
